Long, Long Skies

thePiecan Continuing on from Guests; it's all here! Gord travels through eclectic scenes, memories & sonic states of being. Reflective pools, sneaky funk, some classical guitar, a dabble of mandolin. Some synth? growly, confused or swirly! Descerning & questioning embroidered with weaving guitar & Gordon's signature haunting solos. Stalking uphill, shooting the breeze, lean on a gate & take a break; savour the scenery! Favorite track: Long, Long Skies.

Dirk Radloff This is the second album of Mr.Midgley in 2020 and the curve still points upwards. Wether he tackles ProtoMetal (A single step), dissonant Funk (Discovery awaits) or epic prog (Title song) you can bet, that the song ends with a great guitar-solo, Chapeau! Favorite track: First Rays.

Another near escape for me Another almost all-time low A single step is all it takes I catch my breath, I count again Nothing ever heals And no-one ever feels The Same Silent middle distance stares Being there, a step from here I need to speak, but what to say ? So I pretend, all is well In Nowhereland I pretend All is well

Dawn came, dawn went, the clock had lost its hold The door for me unlocked at last Ghosts of doubt haunt me no more Receding as I chase the light Motion frees, you don't look back Only straight ahead And then life happens once again Unbound by tide, unbound by time, panoramas never looked so wide And I don't have to hide In this immensity Oh this reverie It lets me speak It lets me be Speak the language as if it's new Just speak it from the heart Emotion stirs, I turn to you To dreaming fields go down No going back, discovery awaits

City Song 06:54
Wheels turning out of sight, towards the sun towards the light Distant mantra draws me on Then I see how far I've come And how far left to go for me A lullaby of motion gently builds until I hear a song The song a city sings There beyond the skyline, more than glass or steel A rhythm always changing, a tempo you can feel Movement quick with purpose, a beating heart I see Melody in everything, it sings to me Safe from Autumn winds, swiftly rising high In the clouds, we pause awhile They begin their serenade then see us away Kaleidoscope of faces, marvel as the colours blur I hear the song this city sings I thought I'd never hear Saying yes once more Say it, from the heart A lullaby of motion gently builds until I hear the melody, the song this city sings Sings for me Rising, reviving, anew, everything The song is now

First Rays 05:56
First rays of a new day, dawn vivid in its light Softly breathe and hold the dream, fading now from sight This restless mind composed the saddest lines Repeat but fail in finding sense, escaping troubled times And so it's still now, restless no more Rejoicing in completeness Quiet smile, softly sigh, embrace the here and now Outside of time Life defined by motion, endlessly in flight Frightened of the silence, afraid of the night Darkness has no place here, melancholy lost Regrets dispelled, still true but gone, no longer count the cost And so it's still now, restless no more Celebrate completeness Quiet smile, softly sigh, embrace the here and now Outside of time Facing, displacing, accepting, all before Advancing, embracing, loving, this new day Discovering in loving This new day, in every way

about

Following May's 'Guests' I'm presenting 'Long, Long Skies', a seven track collection of songs.
Songs of discovery and revival from the confines of lockdown.

You'll recognise the sonic fingerprints if you've heard my older music but hopefully you're still in for a few pleasant surprises over the course of the thirty one minutes. If you're new to the page then welcome aboard.

Check out my Facebook music page for recording diary videos and photos

It's possible to download the set for free in exchange for an email address but the collecting tin is there for donations.

If you like what you hear then spread the word in any way you can.
Social media posts, word-of-mouth, sandwich boards in Drury Lane.
You get the idea.

Now to the without whoms - those who helped me to recover from another almost all-time low.
Everyone who supported and encouraged my musical comeback 'Guests'.
And a special tip of the cap goes to my friends in Chicagoland for getting me back on my feet.
